Aranghata railway station is a railway station on theRanaghat–Gede line of theKolkata Suburban Railway system and operated byEastern Railway. It is situated beside Ranaghat Road, Sabdalpur,Aranghata ofNadia district in the Indian state ofWest Bengal.[1] This railway station serves inRanaghat II and Aranghata area.[2]

History

TheRanaghatGede section was the part of theEastern Bengal Railway which was opened in 1862 and extended to Kushtia, now inBangladesh. This was theCalcuttaSiliguri main line but afterPartition of India in 1947, this got truncated and what remained India named the Gede branch line.[3] The line including Aranghata railway station was electrified in 1997–98.[4]
