Antiochia Lamotis (Greek:Αντιόχεια η Λαμωτίς),Antiochia in Isauria (Αντιόχεια της Ισαυρίας), orAntiochia super Cragum[1] is aHellenistic city inancient Cilicia,Anatolia at the mouth ofLamos (or Lamus) river. The site is on the coast a few kilometers southwest ofErdemli,Mersin Province,Turkey.
DuringRoman times, it was the capital of theLamotis Region, Cilicia.[2] The town also bore the nameLamus orLamos (Λάμος). The river is mentioned byStephanus of Byzantium,[3] and both the river and the town byStrabo[4] andPtolemy.[5] The river, which is otherwise of no importance, formed the boundary between Cilicia Aspera and Cilicia Propria.
The town later became the seat of a bishop; no longer a residential bishopric, it remains atitular see in theRoman Catholic Church under the name ofLamus.[6]
