Early life

She was born inMalmö,[2]Sweden while her father was attending graduate school there[3] but raised mainly inBellevue, Washington.[4] She attendedBellevue High School and studied dance atCornish College of the Arts and acting atSeattle Children's Theatre.[3]

Career

Marks started off her career in 2001 in the short-filmG Spots?. In 2002 she had a guest starring role onLaw & Order: Criminal Intent. In 2003 she had a small role inMona Lisa Smile. In 2004, Marks starred in the independent drama,The Undeserved. She is perhaps best known for her role in the 2012 dramaThe Sessions alongsideHelen Hunt,William H. Macy andJohn Hawkes. The film received wide critical acclaim.[5] In 2014, Marks had the lead role in the indie filmGrace. and in 2015 starred in the psychological dramaAnguish.

On television, Marks has the recurring role as Monte Porter in theFreeform (formerly ABC Family) drama series,The Fosters.[6] She also guest-starred onSouthland,NCIS: New Orleans,Battle Creek,Flaked, andThe Affair.

In 2015, she starred in the one-woman play All American Girl, by Wendy Graf.[4] She will co-direct the short filmThe Games We Play with Rich Newey, which will be her first time directing. In 2016 she starred in The Model Apartment, by Donald Margulies at the Geffen Playhouse[7]

She filmed the independent feature The Last Champion in early 2017.[8]

She played Bernadette Davis onThe Last Tycoon[9] and Kathy Schroeder in the miniseriesWaco.[10]

Personal life

She resides in Los Angeles.[4] She is married to directorRich Newey.[11]
