Early life

Pelucchi was born in Italy,[where?][when?] the daughter of an Italian army officer. Her mother was French.[1] She studied dance inMilan.[2]

Career

Pelucchi danced with theOpéra-Comique in Paris. She moved to the United States and becamepremiere danseuse with the Chicago Opera Ballet in 1917.[3][4][5] She danced in operas of the 1917–1918 season, includingLes Huguenots starringMyrna Sharlow andRosa Raisa,[6]The Jewels of the Madonna starringGiulio Crimi,[7]Azora starringAnna Fitziu,[8]Louise starringGenevieve Vix,[9] andLakmé andLa traviata, both starringAmelita Galli-Curci.[10][11]

Personal life

Pelucchi married Massachusetts legislator and writer Arthur Franklyn Blanchard in 1918.[1]
