Angry Birds: Summer Madness[4] is ananimated television series developed by Rob Doherty and Scott Sonneborn forNetflix. Based on theAngry Birds franchise byRovio Entertainment, and loosely based on the characters in the style ofThe Angry Birds Movie films, the series premiered on January 28, 2022.[5] Season 2 was released on June 24, 2022.[6] Season 3 was released on August 25, 2022,[7] consisting of four specials.[2]

The series features Red, Stella, Chuck, and Bomb as pre-teens at thesummer camp Camp Splinterwood, with their teacher being Mighty Eagle.[citation needed]

In October 2018, Rovio announced that a new, long-formAngry Birds television series was in production for a 2020 release.[11] A few days later on the 16th of that month, British production & distirbution companyCake Entertainment (who distributed Rovio's previous TV series such asAngry Birds Toons), had joined the upcoming long-form Angry Birds television series with Cake Entertainment would produce & distribute the series internationally. One year later in June 2019 during Annecy Animation Festival, Rovio Entertainment and British production & distirbution company Cake Entertainment had revealed character art designs for the upcoming long-formAngry Birds animated series with Toronto-based animation studio Yowza! Animation joining the series as co-producer and would provide animation production series for the upcoming long-formAngry Birds series.[12]

In early 2020, it was announced that the series, titledAngry Birds: Summer Madness, would premiere in 2021 onNetflix.[13] It was eventually released in January 2022.[14] The series consists of 32 11-minute episodes and four 22-minute specials.[15]

In February 2021, the upcoming long-formAngry Birds television seriesAngry Birds: Summer Madness transitioned to traditional animation with Kickstart Entertainment joining the upcoming long-formAngry Birds television seriesAngry Birds: Summer Madness as co-producer and would provide animation series for the upcoming series alongside Yowza! Animation.[16]

Originally slated for a 2021 launch,[17]Angry Birds: Summer Madness premiered on January 28, 2022, globally on Netflix.[5]
