Angiopoietin-4 is aprotein that in humans is encoded by theANGPT4gene.[5][6][7]

Angiopoietins are proteins with important roles invascular development andangiogenesis. All angiopoietins bind with similar affinity to an endothelial cell-specific tyrosine-proteinkinasereceptor. The mechanism by which they contribute to angiogenesis is thought to involve regulation ofendothelial cell interactions with supportingperivascular cells.

The protein encoded by this gene functions as anagonist and is an angiopoietin.[7]
