Anees Bazmee is an Indian film director, screenwriter and producer who works inHindi cinema. He is best known directing forNo Entry (2005),Welcome (2007) andSingh is Kinng (2008),Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022),Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024).

Early life

Born toUrdu poet Abdul Hameed 'Nerang' Bazmee into aGujarati Muslim family, Bazmee began as a child actor in movies likeKitaab (1977) before becoming an assistant director forRaj Kapoor'sPrem Rog (1982) and then a screenwriter withDavid Dhawan'sSwarg (1990).[1]

Career

Bazmee did his directorial debut withHulchul in 1995, however his first commercial success came in 1998 with the filmPyaar To Hona Hi Tha, one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of the year.[2] He achieved further success as well as recognition by directing the top-grossing comedies includingNo Entry (2005),Welcome (2007),Singh Is Kinng (2008),Ready (2011),Welcome Back (2015),Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022) andBhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024), while also receiving praise for directing the moderately successful romantic thrillerDeewangee (2002).[3][4]
