Andromeda X (And 10) is adwarf spheroidal galaxy about2.9 millionlight-years away from theSun in theconstellationAndromeda.[1] Discovered in 2005 by Zucker et al., And X is asatellite galaxy of theAndromeda Galaxy (M31). Aided by the application ofstellar photometry to data from theSloan Digital Sky Survey similar to theAndromeda IX discovery, the new finding indicates that this type of extremely faint satellite might be common in theLocal Group, potentially providing further support for hierarchicalcold dark matter models.[2]
