Andrew Jonathan PennyMBE (born 4 December 1952,Kingston upon Hull,East Riding of Yorkshire, England)[1] is an Englishconductor. He has recorded a complete cycle ofMalcolm Arnold's symphonies.[2] He has conducted a series of recordings ofArthur Sullivan's ballets and incidental music released on the Marco Polo label. Some have been reissued on the Naxos label. They includeThe Merchant of Venice,[3]The Merry Wives of Windsor,[4]Henry VIII[5] andMacbeth.[6]From 1982 to 2022, he was Musical Director of theHull Philharmonic Orchestra.[7] In November 1999 he directed two performances ofGustav Mahler'sSymphony No. 8 (The Symphony of a Thousand), as part of theMillennium celebrations in Hull.

He was appointedMember of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the2014 Birthday Honours for services to music.[8]
