André da Rocha (Portuguese:[ɐ̃ˈdɾɛdaˈʁɔ.ʃɐ]ⓘ) is a municipality in the state ofRio Grande do Sul,Brazil. It is surrounded by the municipalitiesNova Prata,Protásio Alves, andGuabiju.
It was split off fromLagoa Vermelha in 1988, and named in honor ofDesembargadorManuel André da Rocha, the first judge of the comarca of Lagoa Vermelha, and active defender of the municipality, which became a Republican redoubt during theFederalist Revolution (1893).
André da Rocha is the least populous city of Rio Grande do Sul, with only 1,343 inhabitants.
