Anders Björner (born 17 December 1947)[1] is a Swedish professor emeritus in the Department of Mathematics at theRoyal Institute of Technology,Stockholm,Sweden. He received hisPh.D. fromStockholm University in 1979, underBernt Lindström. His research interests are incombinatorics, as well as the related areas of algebra, geometry, topology, and computer science.[2]
His other positions included being director of theMittag-Leffler Institute[3] andeditor-in-chief ofActa Mathematica.[4]
Björner is a recognized expert inalgebraic andtopological combinatorics.[5] He is a 1983 recipient of thePólya Prize, and is a member of theRoyal Swedish Academy of Sciences since 1999.
In 2025, he received the ‘Mathematics in Sweden Leader Award’.[6]
By mid-2025, he had 120 publications and hisD-index was 43.[6]
