River god worshiped at ancient Syracuse

InGreek mythology,Anapus (Ancient Greek:Αναπος) wasgod of the riverAnapus in easternSicily.[1] He was worshiped by theSyracusans, who depicted him as a young man.[1][2] Anapus was husband to thenaiadCyane,[1] who attempted to dissuadeHades fromabducting Persephone, describing how she consented to Anapus' wooing out of love, rather than force.[3]
