Anungu schools is a group of ten schools operated by theGovernment of South Australia which are located in the west of the Australian state ofSouth Australia. Eight are located in the Aboriginal lands ofAnangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY lands), while one is inMaralinga Tjarutja and on in the community ofYalata, all offeringprimary andsecondary schooling to a local body of students who are largelyAboriginal.

The wordanangu means "human being", or "person", and is used by severalAboriginal Australian peoples of theWestern Desert cultural bloc to describe themselves.^[1]

Amata Anangu School (26°09′12″S131°08′47″E / 26.153228°S 131.146357°E /-26.153228; 131.146357 (Amata Anangu School)) is located in the community ofAmata. In 2018, the school offeredReception to Year 12, and had a total enrolment of 92 students of whom 84% were Indigenous and a teaching staff of 15.^[2][3]

In 2018, the school offered Reception to Year 12, and had a total enrolment of 147 students of whom 93% were Indigenous and a teaching staff of 16.^[4][5]

In 2018, the school offered Reception to Year 12, and had a total enrolment of 89 students of whom 84% were Indigenous and a teaching staff of eight.^[8][9]

In 2018, the school offered Reception to Year 12, and had a total enrolment of 10 students of whom 70% were Indigenous and a teaching staff of three.^[10][11]

In 2018, the school offered Reception to Year 12, and had a total enrolment of 67 students of whom 94% were Indigenous and a teaching staff of 10.^[12][13]

In 2018, the school offered Reception to Year 12, and had a total enrolment of 26 students who were all Indigenous and a teaching staff of five.^[14][15]

Pipalyatjara Anangu School (26°09′50″S129°10′15″E / 26.163831°S 129.170736°E /-26.163831; 129.170736 (Pipalyatjara Anangu School)) is located in the community ofPipalyatjara. In 2018, the school offered Reception to Year 12, and had a total enrolment of 63 students of whom 95% were Indigenous and a teaching staff of nine.^[16][17]

Oak Valley Anangu School (29°24′10″S130°44′18″E / 29.402884°S 130.738411°E /-29.402884; 130.738411 (Oak Valley Anangu School)) is located in the community ofOak Valley. It was formerly known as the Oak Valley Aboriginal School and was renamed on 19 July 2010 to include the word "anangu". In 2018, the school offered Reception to Year 12, and had a total enrolment of seven students who are all Indigenous and a teaching staff of five.^[18][19]

Yalata Anangu School (31°28′59″S131°50′21″E / 31.48319°S 131.839199°E /-31.48319; 131.839199 (Yalata Anangu School)) is located in the community ofYalata. The school, which was previously known as the Yalata Aboriginal School, was opened in 1962. In 2018, the school offered Reception to Year 12, and had a total enrolment of 80 students who were all Indigenous and a teaching staff of ten.^[20][21]
