Amtkeli (Georgian:ამტყელიAbkhaz:Амтҟьал)[2] is a small river in north-westernGeorgia. It originates in theCaucasus Mountains, in the region ofUpper Abkhazia,[1] in the western part of theChkhalta range nearAmtkeli pass. It flows south toLake Amtkeli and joins theKodori River. Its catchment area is 398 square kilometres (154 sq mi).[3]
The Amtkeli is fed by snow, rain and groundwater. Floods occur in late spring and summer, and the low flows occur in winter.[3]
