Amphion is anunincorporated community inAtascosa County, in theU.S. state ofTexas.[1] According to theHandbook of Texas, the community had a population of 26 in 2000. It is located within theSan Antonio metropolitan area.
Thesoil series known as "Amphion clayloam", classed as a fine, mixed, superactive, hyperthermic PachicPaleustoll, is named after the town.[2]
Amphion is located just east ofFarm to Market Road 2146, 9 mi (14 km) northwest ofPleasanton[3] and 6 mi (9.7 km) southwest ofPoteet in west-central Atascosa County.[4]
Today, the community is served by theJourdanton Independent School District.
