Amina Gennadyevna Atakhanova (Russian:Амина Геннадьевна Атаханова, born 3 May 2002) is a Russian retiredpair skater. With former partnerIlia Spiridonov, she is the2015–16 JGP Final bronze medalist.

Career

Early years

Atakhanova started skating in 2005.[1] She andIlia Spiridonov began competing together in December 2014.

2015–2016 season

Atakhanova/Spiridonov's international debut came in September 2015, at the2015 Junior Grand Prix (JGP) competition inLinz, Austria. Ranked first in both segments, the pair won gold by a margin of 3.79 points over the Czech Republic'sAnna Dušková /Martin Bidař. At their second JGP assignment, inToruń, Poland, they were awarded the silver medal behindEkaterina Borisova /Dmitry Sopot of Russia. These results qualified Atakhanova/Spiridonov for the2015–16 JGP Final inBarcelona, Spain, where they won the bronze medal behind Borisova/Sopot and Dušková/Bidař.

At the2016 Russian Junior Championships Atakhanova/Spiridonov won the silver medal behindAnastasia Mishina /Vladislav Mirzoev. They were selected to compete at the2016 World Junior Championships, inDebrecen, Hungary, but withdrew before the start of the competition due to an injury to Atakhanova.[2]

2016–2017 season

During the2016 JGP series, Atakhanova/Spiridonov won silver in the Czech Republic and placed fourth in Estonia. Finishing fourth in the JGP rankings, they qualified to theJGP Final inMarseille, France, where they would place sixth. Ranked 8th in the short and first in the free, they finished fourth overall at the2017 World Junior Championships inTaipei, Taiwan. They received a small gold medal for their free skate.

Natalia Pavlova andAlexander Zaitsev coached Atakhanova/Spiridonov in Moscow.[1] The skaters ended their partnership following the season.

Partnership with Volodin

Atakhanova andNikita Volodin teamed up in early 2018, coached byAlexei Sokolov inSaint Petersburg.[3] In April 2018, they won gold at the Russian Youth Championships Elder Age.[4]

Retirement

On October 15, 2019, Atakhanova announced her retirement from competitive figure skating.[5]
