TheAmerican Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare (abbreviatedAASWSW) is anhonor society of American scholars and practitioners in the field ofsocial work and social welfare. The academy was established in 2009 and is incorporated as a501 (c)(3)nonprofit organization inOhio.[2] Its first major initiative is theGrand Challenges for Social Work Initiative,[3] the purpose of which is, according to Barth et al. (2014), to "help transform social work science, education, and practice around visionary and achievable challenges."[1][4]
