Aluo (autonym:ɑ55lo33pho55;[3]Naluo[4]) is aLoloish language spoken by theYi people ofChina. It is also known by itsNasu name (Laka, Gan Yi, Yala, Lila, Niluo).
Gao (2017:31)[4] notes that inWuding County, Yunnan, Aluo and Naluo are equivalent terms for the same Yi subgroup.Naluo in theWuding County Gazetteer (1990) actually refers toAluo speakers (Gao 2017:31).Naluo is not to be confused withNaruo, aTaloid (Central Loloish) language of northern Yunnan.
Aluo is spoken in northWuding,Luquan, andYuanmou counties,Yunnan, and inHuili andMiyi counties,Sichuan. Gao (2017)[4] reports that Aluo (autonym:a55lu33pʰu55; also known as the Gan Yi) is spoken in northwesternWuding County as well as inSichuan. YYFC (1983)[5] documents Aluo (autonym:ʔa55lɑ̠33pʰo55) of Dongpo Township 东坡傣族乡,Wuding County, Yunnan.
