Alseroxylon (Rautensin,Rauwiloid) is anorepinephrine reuptake inhibitor that has been investigated in the treatment ofhypertension[1] andangina pectoris and as a sedative inpsychosis.[2] It was at one time approved for use in the United States, but has since been discontinued.[3]
Alseroxylon is a purified fat-soluble extract of the root ofRauvolfia serpentina, containingreserpine and other nonadrenolytic amorphousalkaloids.[2]
