Alpine foothills

Kampalpe and Stuhleck, the highest mountain of thePrealps East of the Mur.

TheAlpine foothills, orPrealps (German:Voralpen;French:Préalpes;Italian:Prealpi;Slovene:Predalpe), may refer generally to anyfoothills at the base of theAlps in Europe.[1] They are the transition zone between theHigh Alps and theSwiss Plateau and theBavarian Alpine Foreland in the north, as well as to thePannonian Basin (Alpokalja) in the east, thePadan Plain in the south and theRhone Valley in the west.[2]
