Analmond present (Danish:mandelgave,Bokmål:mandelgave,Nynorsk:mandelgåve,Icelandic:möndlugjöf,Swedish:mandelgåva) is a small present traditionally given in someNordic countries to the person who gets the wholealmond put in therice pudding served forChristmas. It is a commonScandinavian tradition for many families, and especially for families with children.[1]
InDenmark, this tradition has been known since the 16th century. The custom with the almond in theporridge has similarities to theking cake custom ofEpiphany at the end of theChristmas season.[2][3]
