Alma Dagbjört Möller (born 24 June 1961) is an Icelandic doctor and politician. On 1 April 2018 she became the first woman to serve as theDirector of Health since the office was established in 1760.[1] Since February 2020, she has been one of the lead members of the Iceland's Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management addressing theCOVID-19 pandemicin Iceland.[2]
On 17 June 2020, Alma was awarded aknighthood of theOrder of the Falcon for services to health affairs and contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic.[3]
She was elected to theAlthing for theSocial Democratic Alliance in the2024 election. She becameMinister of Health in the government of Prime MinisterKristrún Frostadóttir.
Alma was born inSiglufjörður to Helena Sigtryggsdóttir and Jóhann Georg Möller. She was the youngest of 6 siblings that includedKristján L. Möller, a former parliamentarian[4] andMinister of Communications.[5]
In May 1990, she became the first woman to serve as a helicopter doctor for theIcelandic Coast Guard.[6][7]
