Aliturgical Days are days in theChristianliturgical year whenmass is not celebrated.[1]

Latin rite

In theLatin liturgical rites the only fully aliturgical day isGood Friday. Because of this, a specific mass known as theMass of the Presanctified is used.[2]

Byzantine rite

In theByzantine rite used by theEastern Orthodox Church andByzantine Catholic Churches there multiple aliturgical days beyond Good Friday. DuringGreat Lent, it is forbidden to consecrate a newEucharist, so theLiturgy of the Presanctified Gifts is used, where a previously consecratedhost is used.
