Alison Hammond (born 5 February 1975) is a British television presenter, media personality, and actress. She came to prominence in 2002 as a contestant on thethird series of the reality showBig Brother.[1] She has since become a presenter and reporter onITV'sThis Morning. In 2023, Hammond became a co-presenter on theChannel 4 reality baking competitionThe Great British Bake Off alongsideNoel Fielding. The following year, she began presenting the ITV reality showFor the Love of Dogs.

Hammond has appeared as a contestant on reality shows, includingI'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! (2010),Celebrity Coach Trip (2012),Strictly Come Dancing (2014),Celebrity Masterchef (2014), andI Can See Your Voice (2021–2022). As an actress, she has appeared inPalace Hill (1988–1990),Doctors (2002), andThe Dumping Ground (2016).

Early and personal life

Hammond was born on 5 February 1975 to Jamaican parents and was raised in the northBirmingham district ofKingstanding alongside her sister and brother.[2][3][4][5] She attendedCardinal Wiseman School.[2] Her mother had several jobs concurrently, including one as a manager forTupperware.[3] From the age of 11, Hammond participated in drama workshops run byCentral Television, but lack of funds meant she was unable to attend drama school.[2][3] She later moved toHall Green in south Birmingham.[6] She was previously engaged to Noureddine Boufaied and together the couple have one son, born in 2005.[7][8] Hammond has been dating David Putman since late 2023.[9]

Career

In 2002, Hammond competed on the third series of theChannel 4reality seriesBig Brother. That same year, she appeared in an episode of theBBC soap operaDoctors in an acting role and also began presenting and reporting for ITV'sThis Morning.[10] Hammond then appeared on many television programmes, includingCelebrity Fit Club,Celebrities Under Pressure, andBig Star's Little Star. She has also appeared onCelebrityStars in Their Eyes, performing asNina Simone,Celebrity Ready Steady Cook,Daily Cooks Challenge, as a panellist on ITV'sLoose Women, and as a presenter on the short-livedITV Play channel. In 2004, Hammond played herself as a TV reporter inChristmas Lights oppositeRobson Green. In 2008, Hammond was named as the face of online bingo site Crown Bingo and took part in live chats, voiced characters and can be heard as the bingo caller in the bingo room.[11] In November 2010, Hammond became a contestant on thetenth series ofI'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and, on 28 November 2010, became the fourth contestant to leave the show.[12]

In 2014, Hammond participated in the ninth series ofCelebrity MasterChef onBBC One. She also participated in thetwelfth series ofStrictly Come Dancing in 2014 on BBC One.[13] She partnered with 11th series' championAljaž Škorjanec. They were voted off in the seventh week of competition and finished 10th.[14] On 19 November 2015, it was announced she would compete in the annualStrictly Christmas Special.[15] Hammond made herHollywood debut in the animated filmHotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (2018).[16] In 2020, ITV announced a shake-up ofThis Morning presenters, with Hammond replacingEamonn Holmes andRuth Langsford on a Friday, presenting alongsideDermot O'Leary.[17] Hammond and O'Leary have since taken on the other days after the respective resignations ofPhillip Schofield andHolly Willoughby in the summer and autumn of 2023 as part of a rotation of hosts.

In December 2020, Hammond appeared as a celebrity guest on game showThe Wheel on BBC One.[18] She also played the Countess in theSainsbury's 2022 Christmas advert.[19] Hammond then hosted the76th British Academy Film Awards withRichard E. Grant.[20] It was announced in March 2023 that Hammond would be the new co-host ofThe Great British Bake Off, replacingMatt Lucas.[21]

From April 2024 she has presentedFor the Love of Dogs, following the death of original presenterPaul O'Grady.[22]

As of January 2026, Hammond is the host of the OfficialBridgerton Podcast onNetflix.[23]
