Aliman (Romanian pronunciation:[aliˈman]) is acommune inConstanța County,Northern Dobruja,Romania. It includes four villages:
The territory of the commune also includes the former village ofAdâncata (historical name:Polucci), at44°9′0″N27°52′57″E / 44.15000°N 27.88250°E /44.15000; 27.88250, disestablished by Presidential Decree in 1977.
TheDacian fortress ofSacidava was located close to the village of Dunăreni.
According toBogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu, in a hypothesis endorsed byIorgu Iordan, the nameAliman derives from theTurkish word for "German",Alaman orAleman.[3]
At the 2011 census, Aliman had 2,798 Romanians (99.75%), 5Roma (0.18%), 2 others (0.07%).
