Alfred Ernest Beamish (6 August 1879 – 28 February 1944) was aBritishtennis player born inRichmond,Surrey,England. He finished as runner-up toJames Cecil Parke in the Men's Singles final of theAustralasian Championships, the futureAustralian Open in1912.[1] Beamish also partnered withCharles Dixon to win the bronze medal in theindoor doubles event at the1912 Stockholm Olympics.[2] He was the runner-up in one of tennis's early majors, theWorld Covered Court Championship in 1921. He competed at the1920 Summer Olympics.[3] He was also twice a semifinalist at Wimbledon in 1912 (where he beatGordon Lowe before losing toArthur Gore)[4] and 1914 (where he lost toNorman Brookes).[4] Beamish was married to Wimbledon singles semi-finalistWinifred Beamish.
