Alfred Hagan (10 November 1895 – 1980) was an English professionalfootballer who played as aninside forward.
Hagan was born inUsworth and worked at the colliery in the town.[4] He served as a private in theNorthumberland Fusiliers during theFirst World War.[5]
After playing local football forWashington Colliery, Hagan signed forNewcastle United in 1919. He moved toCardiff City in 1923 but did not make his debut for the club until 26 December of that year, playing in a 3–1 victory overSheffield United. He remained with the club for three seasons but struggled to break into the first team. He eventually joinedTranmere Rovers in 1926, along withHerbie Evans, where he finished his professional career.[1]
Hagan's sonJimmy was also a professional footballer and won a single cap forEngland in 1948.[1]
