Alfa TVP is a Polishfree-to-air television channel offered byTelewizja Polska. The programming is aimed at teenagers ages 10-16.
Initially the channel was supposed to be named TVP Teen[1] (later TeenTV)[2]), however ultimately the name Alfa TVP was sellected, referencing theGeneration Alpha cohort,[3] which was born after 2010.
The channel's target audience is viewers between the ages of 10 and 16,[4] a little older than the demographic catered byTVP ABC. Its broadcasts started on December 20, 2022.[2] Its launch schedule included mainly animated and live-action series for children and teenagers (mainly animated) and science programs taken from TVP's archives.[5][6] THe first program on air was the British seriesAlmost Never.[7]
Its first original production wasTylko nie piątek!, a teen sitcom directed by Tomasz Szafrański.[8]
In its early months the channel was available exclusively online,[9] on theTVP Stream andTVP GO platforms.[5] In January 2023 it started broadcasting on digital terrestrial television (on MUX 6),[9] in May on local cable operators (about 80).[10] On June 1, 2023 it made its content available onTVP VOD.[11] In March 2024, the channel was made available on the larger platforms (such asCanal+ and Orange TV).
