Alexis Martin Woodall (born June 30, 1980) is an American producer, executive producer and the president ofRyan Murphy Productions. Woodall has won threePrimetime Emmy Awards for her producing work onThe Normal Heart,American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson andAmerican Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace.[1] She has also won twoGolden Globe Awards for executive producingThe People V. O.J. Simpson andThe Assassination of Gianni Versace[2][3].
Woodall was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She moved toAurora, Colorado at nine years old and graduated fromCherry Creek High School.[4] She attended theUniversity of Colorado Boulder for herBachelor of Arts in film studies andBachelor of Fine Arts in film production.[5]
After graduating from theUniversity of Colorado Boulder, Woodall moved toLos Angeles and was hired as a post-production assistant onRyan Murphy's showNip/Tuck. She was soon promoted to associate producer and eventually producer inNip/Tuck's final season.[6] AfterNip/Tuck concluded, Woodall continued working withMurphy as a producer on his new television seriesGlee,American Horror Story, andThe New Normal, as well as his filmThe Normal Heart. In 2015, Woodall was promoted to executive producer and has served in that capacity onScream Queens,Feud,Pose,American Horror Story,American Crime Story,9-1-1, its spinoff series9-1-1: Lone Star, as well asThe Politician,Hollywood,Ratched, and the upcomingHalston andMonster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.[6][7][8] She also served as executive producer on the documentaryA Secret Love and as producer on upcoming film adaptation of the Broadway musicalThe Prom.[9] Woodall will executive produce the upcoming legal drama series,All's Fair, created by Murphy.[10]
Woodall has won threeEmmys for her work onThe Normal Heart,American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson andAmerican Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace, with a total of twelve nominations includingPose,Feud: Bette and Joan,American Horror Story andGlee. Additionally, Woodall has garnered sixGolden Globe nominations forThe Politician,Feud,American Horror Story,The Normal Heart,The People V. O.J. Simpson andThe Assassination of Gianni Versace, the latter two of which won in 2017 and 2019, respectively.[1][11][2]
Woodall and her husband Dave ran the restaurant Red Herring in Los Angeles, but it became one of the many restaurants closed during the height of the pandemic in 2020.[12][13] She also plays the keyboard, tambourine, and used to sing back-up vocals in an indie band called Kissing Cousins.[14]
