Alexandra Dowling (born 22 May 1990), is an Englishactress best known for her lead role asQueen Anne in theBBC One historical action drama seriesThe Musketeers, which is based on the characters inThe Three Musketeers byAlexandre Dumas. She is also known for her guest starring role as Roslin Frey inHBO'sGame of Thrones.

Early life

In 2012, Dowling graduated fromOxford School of Drama with a Diploma in Professional Acting.[1]

Career

In 2012, Dowling made her television debut in "The Drawing of the Dark", the eleventh episode of the final series of the BBCfantasydrama seriesMerlin, as a druid girl named Kara.[2] She also appeared in the music video for "Love Is All I Got" by Feed Me and Crystal Fighters.[3]

Dowling guest starred in "The Rains of Castamere", the ninth episode of thethird season ofHBO's fantasy television seriesGame of Thrones as Roslin Frey.[4] She also starred in "Elephants Can Remember" in the thirteenth series ofITV'sAgatha Christie's Poirot, adapted fromAgatha Christie'snovel of the same name. This episode was aired on 9 June 2013, and also starredZoë Wanamaker,Vanessa Kirby andDavid Suchet.[5]

Dowling played the female lead Agnes in the epicaction filmHammer of the Gods, also starringJames Cosmo. The film is directed byFarren Blackburn and was released on 5 July 2013. The film tells the story of a dying Viking king who sends his son on a quest to seek out his older brother, the clan's only hope for defeating an approaching enemy horde.[6]

She is known for her role asQueen Anne in theBBC One drama seriesThe Musketeers, based onAlexandre Dumas's novelThe Three Musketeers,[7]

Dowling portrayed Bertha in Joshua Stamp-Simon's stage adaption ofSt. John Emile Clavering Hankin'sThe Last of the De Mullins, which opened atJermyn Street Theatre,London on 5 February and ended on 28 February 2015.[8][9]
