Alexandra Chando (born July 28, 1986[1]) is an American actress and director. She is known for her role asMaddie Coleman in theCBS soap opera,As the World Turns and for her dual role as identical twins, Emma Becker and Sutton Mercer in theABC Family drama series,The Lying Game.

Early life and education

Chando is a native ofBethlehem, Pennsylvania, where she graduated fromLiberty High School.[2] Her father, Steve Chando, has his own commercial roofing company in Bethlehem called CHM Contracting, and her mother, Rebecca, is a homemaker.[2] She has two older brothers.[3][4][5]

Chando attendedManhattan College before becoming an actress.[6][7]

Career

Chando originated the role of Maddie Coleman on the televisionsoap operaAs the World Turns, which she played from 2005[7] to 2007 and again for several months beginning in late 2009 and ended in early 2010. Her experience of being cast onAs the World Turns was chronicled in the episode "I'm Getting My Big Break" from theMTV documentary series,True Life.[8] She received a 2007Daytime Emmy Award nomination in the Younger Actress Category.[9]

In 2009, Chando was cast as Deb inThe WB web seriesRockville CA fromJosh Schwartz.[10] Shescreen-tested withRobert Pattinson for the leading role in the 2010 filmRemember Me, and auditioned for the role ofElena Gilbert, inThe CW television seriesThe Vampire Diaries. In 2011, she played Danielle Anderson in the web seriesTalent,[11] which is based on the novel series byZoey Dean. Later, Chando was cast as identical twins Emma Becker and Sutton Mercer in theABC Family seriesThe Lying Game,[2][12] which ran for two seasons until it was cancelled by the network.[13] AfterThe Lying Game ended, she appeared on an episode of the television seriesCastle, playing "aLindsay Lohan/Miley Cyrus type".[14]

In 2018, Chando made her directorial debut with her short filmLPM, Likes Per Minute.[15] It screened at the inaugural Mammoth Film Festival, where Chando also serves as Festival Manager.[16]
