Alexander "Xandl" Popovich (18 July 1891 - 7 September 1952) also known by different variations of his last name such asPopovic andPoppovich, was a professionalfootball player and manager fromAustria.
He played all of his club football inVienna, most prominently forAustria Vienna, where he spent over a decade, winning theAustrian Cup twice and theAustrian Championship. He also won the Austrian Championship withRapid Vienna.[1]
He made his debut forAustria in October 1911 againstGermany. He earned 33 caps, scoring one goal.
After retiring from playing, he moved into the management field, managing top clubs in Germany, such asHertha Berlin and later Italy, where he managedLazio andBologna.
