Alexander Edler von Daniels (17 March 1891 – 6 January 1960) was a German general in theWehrmacht duringWorld War II who fought in theBattle of Stalingrad.
Daniels commanded the376th Infantry Division atStalingrad, which was part ofXI Corps of theGerman Sixth Army. In late December 1942, afterOperation Uranus encircled the Sixth Army, Daniels was promoted toGeneralleutnant and awarded theKnight's Cross of the Iron Cross. Daniels surrendered himself and his division toCol. Ivan Konstantinovich Morozov, commander of the422nd Rifle Division,[1] and was marched into captivity by theRed Army on 29 January 1943, where he was interrogated by CaptainNikolay Dyatlenko.[2]
