Alexander Burns (born 4 August 1973) is a Scottish formerfootballer who played as aforward, most notably forMotherwell,Heracles,Southend United,Livingston andPartick Thistle.Then had a daughter Alix burns

Career

Burns began his career withjunior clubShotts Bon Accord, before joiningMotherwell in 1991. Upon departingFir Park after six years with the Lanarkshire side, in which they finished third in theScottish Premier Division in1993–94 and runners-up in1994–95,[2] he moved around several clubs, rarely spending more than one season at each. Beginning with a spell with Dutch sideHeracles Almelo, he signed for English sideSouthend and returned to Scotland in 1999, joining second-tierRaith Rovers.

Burns then joinedLivingston, and after helping them win promotion to theScottish Premier League in2000–01, transferred toSt Mirren.[3] After scoring a career-best 16 SPL goals withPartick Thistle in2002–03, he returned to his first club Motherwell for a second spell despite interest from another of his former clubs,Livingston.[4][5][6]

He had a loan spell withClyde in2005, soon turning to part-time football withBrechin City.[7] He joinedStranraer the following season, before dropping out of the senior game to sign forPetershill.

Burns joinedStrathclyde Police in 2008 and served as a community officer inNorth Lanarkshire.[8]
