Alberto Augusto Antunes Festa (21 July 1939 – 2 January 2024) was a Portuguesefootballer who played as aright-back.
Born inSanto Tirso,Porto District, Festa started and finished his 17-year senior career with local clubF.C. Tirsense. In between, he representedFC Porto, where he appeared in 114Primeira Liga matches.
Festa retired at the age of 33, after several injury problems.[1]
Festa earned 19caps forPortugal over three years.[2] His debut came on 23 January 1963 againstBulgaria, for the1964 European Nations' Cupqualifiers (1–0 replay loss in Rome).
Festa was selected for the1966 FIFA World Cup squad, playing three matches in England for the third-placed team.[3]
Festa suffered fromAlzheimer's disease in later life. He died on 2 January 2024, aged 84.[4]
