Albert Paulsen (bornAlbert Paulson Andrade; December 13, 1925,Guayaquil,Ecuador – April 25, 2004,Los Angeles, California) was an Ecuadorian-American actor who appeared in many Americantelevision series beginning in the 1960s, playing characters primarily of European origin.

The son of Alfredo Paulson Moulis and Zoila María Andrade Flor, he had two siblings, brothers Alfredo Paulson Andrade and Juan Paulson Andrade (the latter of whom survived Paulsen). He studied for three years at the German School inQuito and, in 1933, returned to Guayaquil, where he attended the Cristóbal Colón and San José schools.^[1]

After emigrating to the United States, where he changed his surname from Paulson to Paulsen at some point. He became a life member ofThe Actors Studio,^[2] Paulsen won anEmmy Award in 1964 for theBob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre presentationOne Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, an historical novel byAleksandr Solzhenitsyn.^[3]

Paulsen was a graduate of theNeighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre studying underSanford Meisner. Paulsen died of natural causes in Los Angeles, aged 78.^[4]
