Albert Magnoli (bornc. 1954)[1] is an American film director, screenwriter and editor best known for directing the filmsPurple Rain,Tango & Cash (replacement director),Street Knight, andAmerican Anthem. Magnoli also served as editor of the 1984 filmReckless.

Career

Magnoli graduated from theUSC School of Cinema-Television[2] in 1981.[3]

In 1989, Magnoli briefly (from February to November) served as the manager of musical artistPrince.[4]

Accolades

In 2019, Magnoli's filmPurple Rain was selected by theLibrary of Congress for preservation in the United StatesNational Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".[5]
