Albert Gallatin Egbert (April 13, 1828 – March 28, 1896) was aDemocratic member of theU.S. House of Representatives fromPennsylvania.
Albert G. Egbert was born nearSandy Lake, Pennsylvania. He attended the public schools andGrand River Institute inAustinburg, Ohio. He graduated from the medical department of theWestern Reserve University inCleveland, Ohio, in 1856 and then practiced medicine inClintonville, Pennsylvania. He moved toCherrytree, Pennsylvania, and practiced his profession until 1861, when he retired in order to devote his entire time to the production ofoil and agricultural pursuits. During theAmerican Civil War, he served as a volunteersurgeon.
Egbert was elected as a Democrat to theForty-fourth Congress. He served as chairman of theUnited States House Committee on Mileage during this Congress. He declined to be a candidate for renomination in1876. He resumed his former business pursuits, and died inFranklin, Pennsylvania. Interment in Franklin Cemetery.
