Alan Vest (5 September 1939 – 30 October 2025) was a professionalfootball player and manager. Born in England, he made 17 appearances for theNew Zealand national team, scoring six goals.

Career

Vest scored on his full international debut for the New Zealand national team in a 4–1 win overNew Caledonia on 17 September 1972[2] and ended his international playing career with 17 A-international caps and 6 goals to his credit,[3][4] his final cap for theAll Whites being in a 0–0 draw withIran on 12 August 1973.[2]

Vest first coached Rugby Town in the 1960s and then Rochdale United. It is in Australia where Vest has made his mark with the Yorkshireman coachingNSL teams when they were at their peak in the 1970s. After stints in New Zealand and inPerth as a director of coaching at theFootball Federation ofWestern Australia. Vest spent time in Asia withSarawak andGeylang United before returning to Australia.[5]

Death

Vest was fromBarnsley, England. He resided inPerth, Australia in later life.

He died on 30 October 2025, at the age of 86.[6]
