Alan Michael Jouban (born November 25, 1982) is an American retired professionalmixed martial artist who competed in theWelterweight division. A professional competitor from 2010 to 2021, Jouban has also formerly competed for theUltimate Fighting Championship,Shark Fights,RFA andTachi Palace Fights.
Born and raised inLafayette, Louisiana, Jouban competed in soccer from a young age through high school until tearing his ACL. He is ofFrench andSyrian descent.[7] Jouban attended and graduated fromOvey Comeaux High School and then went toUniversity of Louisiana at Lafayette in his hometown for a couple of semesters, but left before finishing a degree.[8]
Jouban later began training in Muay Thai in 2005 at the age of 23, and was undefeated as an amateur, which led him into a career inmixed martial arts.[9]
Jouban had his first amateur fight on March 26, 2010, and won via TKO just 14 seconds into the first round. He had his first professional fight on February 8, 2011, vs. Kyle Griffin, winning via 15 second knockout in the first round.
Jouban made hisUFC debut on August 16, 2014, againstSeth Baczynski atUFC Fight Night 47.[10] Jouban won by knockout in the first round.[11] The back and forth action earned both participantsFight of the Night honors.[12]
Jouban next facedThe Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3 Middleweight winnerWarlley Alves on November 8, 2014, atUFC Fight Night 56.[13] Jouban lost the fight by a controversial unanimous decision.[14][15]

Jouban was expected to faceBrian Ebersole on June 6, 2015, atUFC Fight Night 68.[18] However, Jouban pulled out of the fight in late March citing injury and was replaced byOmari Akhmedov.[19]

Jouban was expected to faceNordine Taleb on July 7, 2016, atUFC Fight Night 90.[27] However, Taleb pulled out of the bout in early June citing an injury and was replaced by promotional newcomerBelal Muhammad.[28] He won the fight via unanimous decision.[29] Both participants were awardedFight of the Night honors for their performance.[30]

Jouban facedGunnar Nelson on March 18, 2017, atUFC Fight Night 107.[33] After being rocked with a punch, Jouban lost the fight via a guillotine choke in the second round.[34]
Jouban was briefly linked to a bout withBrian Camozzi on July 8, 2017, atUFC 213.[35] However, Jouban pulled out of the fight on June 6 citing a foot injury.[36]
Jouban facedNiko Price on August 5, 2017, atUFC Fight Night: Pettis vs. Moreno.[37] He lost the fight via TKO.[38]
Jouban facedBen Saunders on February 24, 2018, atUFC on Fox 28.[39] He won the back-and-forth fight via knockout in the second round.[40] This win earned him theFight of the Night bonus.[41]
Jouban was expected to faceDanny Roberts on July 22, 2018, atUFC Fight Night 134.[42] However, on July 12, Jouban was pulled out from the fight, citing a neck injury.[43]
Jouban facedDwight Grant on April 13, 2019, atUFC 236.[44] He lost the fight via split decision.[45] Subsequently, Jouban signed a new, five-fight contract with the UFC.[46]
After an 18 months hiatus, Jouban returned to facedJared Gooden on November 21, 2020, atUFC 255.[47] He won the fight via unanimous decision.[48]
On May 10, 2021, Jouban announced his retirement from MMA to focus on broadcasting.[49]
Prior to signing with the UFC, Jouban was a professional model and also appeared in several television commercials.[50] Jouban signed a deal withVersace in 2016. He appeared in a short film as the face of Versace's Dylan Blue fragrance advertisement along withGigi Hadid.[51][52]
Alan and his wife Nicole have a son, Cage (born 2012).[53]
