Al-Aziziyah (Arabic:العزيزية) is a village in northernSyria located in theQalaat al-Madiq Subdistrict of theal-Suqaylabiyah District inHama Governorate. According to theSyria Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), al-Aziziyah had a population of 1,828 in the 2004 census.[1] Its inhabitants are predominantlyAlawites.[2]
Since the fall of theprevious Syrian government, the civilians of Al-Aziziyah have continuously been attacked by the population of the neighbouring Sunni village ofQabr Fidda in coordination with theGeneral Security Service. On 17 March 2025, during themass killings of Alawite civilians by the newSyrian Transitional Government, three civilians were shot dead after gunmen stormed the village.[3] As a result of forced displacement of most of its population, only around 15% of the village's residents remain.[4]
