Akutan Seaplane Base (IATA:was KQA[2],FAALID:KQA) is a public useseaplane base located inAkutan,[1] a city onAkutan Island in theAleutians East Borough of theU.S. state ofAlaska. Scheduled seaplane service was subsidized by theEssential Air Service program until late 2012 whenPenAir retired theirGrumman Goose amphibious aircraft and a new land-based airport on neighboringAkun Island was built. The new airport is known asAkutan Airport.

As perFederal Aviation Administration records, the airport had 1,346 passenger boardings (enplanements) incalendar year 2008,[3] 1,200 enplanements in 2009, and 1,246 in 2010.[4] It is included in theNational Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, whichcategorized it as ageneral aviation airport (thecommercial service category requires at least 2,500 enplanements per year).[5]
