TheAkhund Mullah Shah Masjid, also known as theAkhoon Mullah Masjid, theDara Shikoh Masjid, and theMala Shah Mashid,[1] is a formermosque, now in partial ruins, located inKashmiri,Srinagar, in theSrinagar District,Kashmir Valley, in the union territory ofJammu and Kashmir,India. The former mosque structure is aMonument of National Importance.[2]
The mosque was built byDara Shikoh in 1649 for his spiritual mentor[3] and is a mosque inside a mosque. The primesanctuary is entirely separated from the main building through a courtyard that surrounds it. There is a stone lotus that crowns the podium of the mosque.[4]
