Akeem Dent (born September 24, 1987) is an American professionalfootball coach and former player who is the Outside Linebackers coach forElon of theCoastal Athletic Association (CAA). He played professionally as alinebacker in the NFL. He was selected by theAtlanta Falcons in the third round of the2011 NFL draft. He playedcollege football for theGeorgia Bulldogs. He also played for theHouston Texans.

Dent was selected by theAtlanta Falcons in the third round (91st pick overall) of the2011 NFL draft.[3] He was signed by the team on July 28.[4] Dent was selected to the Pro Football Weekly All-Rookie Team.[5]
On June 18, 2014, Dent was traded to theHouston Texans for quarterbackT. J. Yates.[6]
Dent signed a two-year contract to stay with the Texans on March 24, 2015.[7]
On August 28, 2017, Dent signed with theJacksonville Jaguars, only to be released on September 1.[8][9]

On February 5, 2019, Dent was hired as a defensive assistant for theHouston Texans of theNational Football League (NFL).[11]
On May 11, 2022, Dent was announced as a member of theGreen Bay Packers Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship program.
On July 15, 2024, Dent was hired as the assistant defensive line coach at theElon University under head coachTony Trisciani.[12]
