Aiguillon (French pronunciation:[ɛɡɥijɔ̃];Occitan:Gulhon) is acommune of theLot-et-Garonnedepartment in southwestern France.[3] It lies near the confluence of the riversLot andGaronne.[4]Aiguillon station has rail connections to Agen, Langon and Bordeaux.

The organist and composerMarc de Ranse (1881–1951) was born in Aiguillon.[5]

History

Attached to the English crown in 1318, it was conquered byDu Guesclin in 1370.[6] The futureJean II conducted a large-scale but unsuccessfulsiege of the place in 1346.In 1599 it was converted into a duchy of its own.
