Aidone (Gallo-Italic of Sicily:Aidungh orDadungh;Sicilian:Aiduni) is a town andcomune in theprovince of Enna, in region ofSicily in southernItaly. The extensivearchaeological site ofMorgantina is on a ridge close to the town.

There are a variety of etymologies proposed for the name of the town. One suggests putatively derives from the ArabicAy dun meaningmountain of water.[3]
