Ahiohill (Irish:Achadh Eochaille, meaning 'field of theyew')[1] is a small village inCounty Cork,Ireland. The historical spelling for the area,Aghyohil, is reflected in the names of two localtownlands, Aghyohil Beg and Aghyohil More.[1][2] As of the2011 census, Aghyohil Beg was home to 29 people and Aghyohil More had a population of 76.[3]
The village of Ahiohill lies between the towns ofBandon,Clonakilty andBallineen/Enniskean. Ahiohill has one pub, "The Four Winds", and is home toOliver Plunkett's GAA. The localnational (primary) school, Ahiohill National School,[4] had an enrollment of 74 pupils as of 2024.[5] Ahiohill'sCatholic church, the Church of the Assumption, dates fromc. 1825 and is in theparish of Enniskeane & Desertserges in theRoman Catholic Diocese of Cork and Ross.[6]
