Agapytho is the only genus ofbeetles in the familyAgapythidae. The genus contains a single species,Agapytho foveicollis, which is endemic to New Zealand.[1][2][3][4] Larvae and adults are found onsooty mold growing onNothofagus trees. Gut contents indicate that at least adultAgapytho consume the sooty mould as part of their diet.[5][6]
