TheAfrican Judo Union (AJU) is the governing body ofjudo in Africa. It is one of the five continental confederations making up theInternational Judo Federation (IJF).[1] AJU was formed on 28 November 1961 inDakar (Senegal).[2][3] AJU has headquarters inMadagascar and consists of 54 member federations.
The African Judo Union was founded on 28 November 1961 inDakar,Senegal under the name ofUnion Afro-Malgache de Judo (UAMJ). The first competitions were tha African Championships in 1964 in Dakar and the African Games in 1965 inBrazzaville.[4]
