Afghan Canadians areCanadians with ancestry fromAfghanistan. They form the second largestAfghan community inNorth America afterAfghan Americans. Their ethnic origin may come from any of theethnic groups of Afghanistan, which includePashtun,Tajik,Uzbek,Hazara,Turkmen, etc. In theCanada 2016 Census about 83,995 Canadians were from Afghanistan.[4]

History

The first known Afghan immigrant to Canada wasZaman Khan (Persian:زمان خان) who was naturalised inMontreal,QC on 27 January 1931.[5]
